Rescheduled Online Meeting for Paid Subscribers

At this meeting, May 31, for paid subscribers, we will discuss what parents can do to enable free play, with other kids, for their kids.

Dear friends,

I was sorry to have to cancel the meeting that was to be held May 17. But now I have rescheduled our May meeting for Saturday, May 31, at 2:00 pm Eastern Time.

We will continue our discussion of ways to enable free play for kids in today’s world. At our last meeting, on April 12, our focus was on what institutions, such as schools, libraries, and community centers can do to enable children’s free play. For our May meeting the focus will be on what parents can do to enable free play, with other children, for their children. It is a follow-up of Letter #46 Thirteen Ways to Enable Free Play and Other Independent Activities for Your Kids You might want to read or re-read that before the meeting.

My plan is that we will follow the same format as we did at the last meeting. I’ll begin with an overview of ideas, then we might turn to short presentations (about 3-5 minutes) by a few volunteers who can share their own experiences dealing with the problem being discussed, and then we will move to questions and comments from all attendees.

If you are a paid subscriber and are interested in possibly being one of the volunteers, to share your own experiences of enabling free social play with other kids for your kids, please let me know in the comments section of this email. Please include a brief description of the specific experience or experiences you would like to describe, and your email address so I can get back to you.
